Farmers of Vaishali district can apply online and take advantage of this scheme. Bihar government has also included Vaishali in the list of 21 districts for cultivating dragon fruit. Under the Chief Minister Horticulture Mission Scheme, the government is providing grants to the farmers of the state in the Dragon Fruit Development Scheme. The cost per hectare for dragon fruit cultivation has been fixed at Rs 7.50 lakh.

Under this scheme, farmers cultivating dragon fruit will be given a subsidy of 40 percent i.e. up to Rs 3 lakh. The government is providing subsidy to farmers for the cultivation of this fruit because dragon fruit is rich in nutrients. No special environment is required for the cultivation of dragon fruit. Farmers can easily cultivate this fruit in normal temperature and normal year. This crop bears fruit 3 times in a season and one plant produces about 45 to 50 fruits. If a farmer cultivates dragon fruit in 1 hectare at a distance of 2 square meters, then he will need about 5 thousand plants.

Up to 60 percent subsidy will be given
Under the Chief Minister Horticulture Mission Scheme, the subsidy amount will be given to the farmers in 3 installments. In the first installment, farmers will be given 60 percent i.e. Rs 1.80 lakh. Whereas in the second and third installments, a subsidy of 20-20 percent i.e. Rs 60-60 thousand will be given. To get the second and third installments, it will be necessary for 75 to 90 percent of the plants to survive in the fields. If you want to take advantage of the Dragon Fruit Development Scheme, then you have to apply online. The benefit of this scheme will be given on first come first serve basis. While applying, farmers have to keep their farmer registration, land receipt, Aadhar card, photo and other necessary documents with them. Vaishali Agriculture Horticulture Department Director Shashank Kumar said that for the first time Vaishali district has got the target of cultivating dragon fruit in 10 hectares. By cultivating it, farmers can double their income. The government has fixed the minimum rate of Rs 750000 for cultivating one hectare for this farming. In this scheme, you will also be given a subsidy of 40% by the government.
