On the occasion of Vijayadashami, the pomp and grandeur of Dussehra was at its peak in Purnia. This year, huge effigies of 40 feet Ravana, 35 feet Kumbhakarna and 30 feet Meghnad were burnt in Ward-8 located in Maranga. This program of killing Ravana took place in the presence of MP Pappu Yadav. He traditionally killed Ravana by shooting an arrow. On this occasion, Pappu Yadav said that today Ravana is killing Ravana, the real challenge is to destroy the Ravana within.

On this occasion, Purnia MP Yadav also gave a sharp reaction to the attempts to spoil the harmony of Kosi-Seemanchal. He attacked the Hindu Jagran campaign of Begusarai MP Giriraj Singh. Pappu Yadav said that during the election time, some people start running shops, but I will not let the peace and tranquility in Seemanchal get disturbed. He pledged to maintain the peace and brotherhood of Seemanchal and said that if anyone tries to disturb the harmony, he will have to go through his dead body.

Maranga Durga Puja Committee member Nagendra Kumar Yadav said that the tradition of killing Ravana on the occasion of Dussehra in Maranga started from 2021. This year the height of other effigies including that of Ravana was increased by 40 feet. The making of the effigies started from September 27, in which Kasba and local artists together made effigies from bamboo and cloth. After Ravana Dahan, cultural programs were also organized in which active participation of local people was seen.

The festival of Vijayadashami was celebrated with great pomp in Supaul. A 55 feet tall effigy of Ravana and a 45 feet tall statue of Meghnad was made at Gandhi Maidan in the city. Before killing Ravana, the victory procession of Lord Ram passed through various routes of the city and reached Gandhi Maidan. This time the special attraction was the group of women accompanying the horse riders and drummers in the procession.


District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar and SP Shaishav Yadav applied Vijay Tilak of Lord Ram, Laxman and Hanuman. There were tight security arrangements at the event, in which police force was deployed and movement of vehicles was banned. Puja committee chairman Raghavendra Jha said that the expenditure on this program was around Rs 5 lakh.


Ravana in the form of ego was burnt to ashes in Chhapra.

Ravana in the form of ego was burnt on the occasion of Vijayadashami at Rajendra Stadium in Chapra. In the programme, 55 feet tall Kumbhkaran and 60 feet tall effigies of Ravana were burnt. This program was conducted peacefully under the supervision of Saran District Magistrate Aman Sameer and SP Dr. Kumar Ashish.

The main attraction of the program this time was the laser light show, in which grand fireworks of Ram and Ravana were seen. Chairman of the Ravana Dahan Committee and former Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Salim Parvez said that this time special security arrangements were made and preparations were made to make the entire program historic. MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal said on this occasion that we need to kill the Ravana of ego within us.
