Cyber fraud case: A case of cyber fraud has come to light with a woman from Noida in the name of generating e-Sim. Cyber thugs stole about Rs 27 lakh from the bank account of Jyotsna Bhatia (44), a resident of Sector-82, Noida. The victim has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Cyber Crime Police, Sector-36 Noida.
Fraud happened in the name of e-Sim
According to the information, this case is of 31 August 2024, when the victim received a WhatsApp call, in which she was told about using the facility of eSim. The caller suggested the woman to get a code and enter it in the mobile, after which the SIM card got deactivated. After this the caller promised to send a new SIM card, but it did not come.
Contacted Airtel Customer Care
The victim then contacted Airtel’s customer care and tried to activate the SIM again. However, before this a large amount had already been withdrawn from her bank account. The victim received three emails stating that Rs 70,000 had been withdrawn from her account, after which she immediately closed her bank accounts.
The victim’s FD was broken and a loan was also taken
Not only this, the fraudsters also broke the FD from her account and took a loan of about Rs 7.40 lakh from Axis Bank in her name. According to the victim, the fraudsters gained access to her mobile banking apps and changed her e-mail and banking details.
The woman complained to the cyber crime police
After this, the victim complained about it on the cyber crime portal. The police have also registered a case and said that the accused will be arrested soon.
