Earthquake: Earth shook due to earthquake in Kutch, Gujarat, intensity measured on 4.2 Richter scale


Earthquake In Gujarat: An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred in the Kutch district of Gujarat on Monday (January 30) morning. Seismological Research Institute (ISR) gave this information. Officials said that there was no report of any casualty or damage to property due to the earthquake. 

Gandhinagar-based ISR said on its website that an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was felt at 6.38 am and its epicenter was 11 km north-northeast of Dudhai village in Kutch. 

High Risk Seismic Zone

The Institute of Seismology Research (ISR) said that earlier an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred at 5.18 am at 5.18 am, 23 km east-southeast of Khavda village in the district. Kutch is about 400 km from Ahmedabad, lies in a very high-risk seismic zone and is regularly struck by low-intensity earthquakes. 

The district was hit by a devastating earthquake in January 2001, in which 13,800 people died. Along with this, around 1.67 lakh people were injured. The earthquake caused severe damage to properties in various towns and villages of the district. 

An earthquake hit these states on January 24 

Earlier on January 24, strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Delhi-NCR as well as in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The earthquake’s magnitude was 5.8 and the epicenter was in Nepal, with a depth of 10 kilometers below the ground.

Earth trembled on January 5 also

Earlier on January 5 also strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Delhi-NCR. The earth shook in Jammu and Kashmir as well. There also people felt strong tremors of the earthquake. The intensity of this earthquake was measured at 5.9. More than 400 earthquakes were recorded in India last year i.e. 2022.
