What is the reason for earthquake?

There is always turmoil beneath the surface of the earth or say inside the earth. The plates inside the earth are constantly colliding with each other or sliding away. Due to this, earthquakes keep occurring every year. Before understanding earthquakes, we should understand the structure of the plates beneath the earth. An expert told that there are 12 tectonic plates in the earth. The energy that is released when these plates collide with each other is called an earthquake.

What is the epicenter of an earthquake?

Let us tell you that the place below the surface of the earth where rocks collide or break is called the epicentre of an earthquake. It is also called the hypocentre. From this centre, energy spreads in the form of waves and an earthquake occurs. This vibration is exactly like the way waves spread when a stone is thrown in a calm pond. According to science, the place where the line connecting the centre of the earth and the epicentre of an earthquake intersects the surface of the earth is called the epicentre of the earthquake.
