Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Monday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till April 15 in the alleged liquor scam case. During the appearance, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), said that Arvind Kejriwal is not cooperating in the investigation and is trying to mislead the investigating agency. ED has accused Kejriwal of giving evasive answers in the investigation.

The ED has said it is still investigating the chief minister’s role in the case, adding that other persons involved in the case are being identified. Also said that Kejriwal gave ‘evasive answers’ and hid information during custodial interrogation. The Chief Minister’s statements were taken over a period of nine days and he was cross-examined by the statements of various witnesses and other accused connected to the case.

ED said Kejriwal has told that Vijay Nair used to report not to him but to Delhi government ministers Atishi and Saurav Bhardwaj and his interaction with Nair was limited. While the ED says Nair’s statements revealed that he stayed in the bungalow of a cabinet minister and worked from the chief minister’s camp office.

Raising questions, ED said that why would a person who used to report to other leaders of CM Kejriwal work from his camp office? Which anyway is for the work of the Chief Minister of Delhi and not for the party. On this basis, ED has accused Kejriwal in the court of giving evasive answers and not cooperating in the investigation.
