According to Jyotishacharya SS Nagpal and Pandit Dhirendra Pandey, it is auspicious to start any new work on Vijay Dashami. On this day there is a tradition of burning effigies of Ravana Meghnad and Kumbhakarna. On this day, effigies are burnt in the evening. The sight of Neelkanth bird is considered very auspicious on this day. This is a big festival of Kshatriyas. On this day, there is a law of weapon worship in Vijay Muhurta. Worship of Goddess Durga Lord Rama, Aparajita Pujan, Vijay-Prayan and Shami Pujan etc. are performed on this festival. Jaya and Vijayadevi are worshiped with Aparajita Devi in Ishaan direction in Amaranh Bela. There is also a tradition of worshiping Shami tree on this day. Vijay Muhurta on Dashami Tithi is from 01:49 am to 02:35 pm on October 12. It is auspicious to worship Aparajita Devi, Shami tree worship and Seema Violation Karma (entering into the enemy area) from 01:02 am to 03:12 in the day.
