It took place in a house located in Safdarjung Enclave in the early hours of Wednesday. An elderly couple was burnt alive to death in the fire. The fire broke out on the third floor. Valuable items worth lakhs of rupees kept in the house were also burnt to ashes. Five vehicles of the fire department reached the spot and brought the fire under control. The deceased have been identified as Govind Ram Nagpal (80) and his wife Sheela Nagpal (78). The elderly couple lived alone in the house. His son is in America, while his daughter lives in Paschim Vihar area. According to the fire department, the cause of the fire is believed to be short circuit.
