Here, keeping their new style of playing Test ‘Baseball’, England declared the innings on the first day in a flamboyant manner, losing 9 wickets and scoring 325 runs. Here Ben Dukat scored 84 runs in 68 balls and Harry Brook played 89 runs in 81 balls. Here Neil Wagner was the most successful bowler from New Zealand, who got 4 wickets.
New Zealand also responded well in the first innings
In response to England’s first innings, New Zealand played leisurely and crossed the 300-run mark. New Zealand scored 306 runs in their first innings. Here Tom Blundell scored 138 runs and Devan Conway scored 77 runs. Allie Robinson of England got 4 wickets and Anderson got 3 wickets.
England gave a target of 394 runs
After taking a 19-run lead on the basis of the first innings, England continued to bat in the second innings as well. Joe Root, Harry Brook and Ben Foakes scored half-centuries and England scored a total of 374 runs. Here Kiwi bowlers Bracewell and Tickner got 3-3 and Wagner and Scott got 2-2 wickets.
