The body of the woman was found hanging from a noose in the basement of the house. Her parents have accused the husband of killing the woman by beating her and then hanging her from the noose. Police reached the spot after getting the information and sent the body for postmortem. Jyoti Devi (30), wife of Vikas Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Harinagar Ramtek of the town, went to sleep on the roof with her husband after having dinner on Saturday evening.
When the husband woke up on Sunday morning, he could not see Jyoti. When he reached the basement of the house, Jyoti’s body was hanging with the help of a rope from the fan’s hook on the ceiling. The husband was shocked to see his wife’s body hanging from the noose. On getting information about the incident, people from the neighborhood gathered. On receiving the information, the police station in-charge and forensic team reached the spot. The body of the woman hanging from the noose was brought down and evidence was collected. Prem Singh, a resident of Karanpura village of Pachay village police station area, said that he had married his daughter Jyoti to Vikas on 24 February 2016.
Husband Vikas did not do any work. He used to beat their daughter under the influence of alcohol. Jyoti has two children, five-year-old Anshika and three-year-old son Ayush. The children remained hungry as Vikas did not do any work. On June 9, Prem Singh took both the children with him. On Sunday morning, when he came to know about his daughter’s death, he along with the family members took both the children and reached his daughter’s in-laws’ house. The father alleges that his daughter was beaten to death and hung on a noose. After the incident, the family members are inconsolable. Inspector in charge Bhimsen Poonia said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. On receiving the complaint, a case will be registered and action will be taken.
