Even in the 17th century, people thought about aliens, scientists also believed that there might be life somewhere else.

Despite this, recent studies show that our fascination with life outside Earth dates back to the 17th century.

It is believed that astronomers and academics first discovered in the 1600s that the Earth is not at the center of the solar system. Despite previous beliefs that the Earth was at the center of the universe, it was found to be the case that the Earth, like all the other planets, revolved around the Sun.

This has also led theorists to believe that it is possible that intelligent life like ours may currently be living on other planets in our solar system. Dutch astronomer Christiaan Huygens came up with the theory which arose from the idea that in God’s all-seeing and omniscient power he ‘would never have missed the opportunity of populating the entire universe with living beings.’

He thought that God’s mysterious other ‘living beings’ on neighboring planets like Jupiter would have arms, legs and stand upright like us. But he also made the shocking claim that they would be above us in height, living a life like ours, with houses, social contacts, art. They would also be worshiping God.

Even big scientists like Newton believed
Meanwhile, others were not so sure about alien life, but Joseph Glanville and Isaac Newton of the Royal Institute supported the theories formulated by Huygens. He suggested in 1976 that although there was currently no evidence of life on other planets, he supported the hypothesis that the Moon might be suitable for life or that life might actually exist there.

This was not thought of before
Until recently it was not believed that alien life could be a threat to us. It has recently come to prominence with popular culture. It often portrays extraterrestrial life as something to be feared rather than welcomed onto our planet. An attempt is being made to show that if aliens come, they will destroy humans.
