The importance of proper digestion has also been emphasized in Ayurveda. The digestive power is called Agni and when food is not digested properly, indigestion may occur. The role of mango is very important in the development of diseases. One should incorporate effective strategies for proper digestion during the winter season.

Ayurvedic Strategies for Proper Digestion
According to the news published in the English portal ‘Only My Health’, some easy ways to improve your digestion through Ayurveda have been suggested. Here we are explaining it in detail.

1. Eat light food
Light food is easy to digest. Depending on the time taken to digest a particular type of food, the food we eat can be classified as heavy or light for digestion. Meat, cheese, fried foods etc. are heavy to digest whereas fruits, vegetables, grains, pulses etc. are light to digest. Excessive consumption of heavy foods can cause indigestion.

2. Do not eat until you are full
Our stomach is like an elastic balloon, it can expand according to the food we eat regularly. Therefore, the feeling of fullness may not always be an indication of how much we need to eat to survive. This may just be a habit. Then, in the stomach, the food is churned for better digestion. This is not possible when there is no extra space. To mix food properly, there must be enough space for liquid and air. According to Ayurveda, if we divide the stomach into four quarters, then only two of these quarters should be filled with solid food. The next part is for liquids and one last part is to be left empty for proper digestion.

3. Eat at the right time
The body works in a habitual cycle that follows a proper timetable. Due to this, the body feels hungry and sleepy etc. at a particular time every day. This is called biological clock or circadian rhythm. Thus when it is time for the body to eat, the digestive system produces digestive juices and expects the food to arrive. Thus, if food is not eaten at that time, digestive problems arise.
