Passengers will now get facilities like the first entrance of Varanasi Cantt station at the second entrance located in the cantonment area. On this side, there will be food stalls, waiting hall, drinking water booth, toilets, ticket counter, enquiry counter, ticket reservation and modern parking for the passengers. According to railway officials, there is a plan to expand the Cantt station keeping in view the passenger facilities.
The parking and platform will be connected in such a way that vehicles can come directly towards platform number nine. The GRP CO office will be demolished and shifted to the new building. State-of-the-art waiting hall, cloakroom, ATVM and counter for general tickets, reservation office, drinking water booth, toilets, food stalls, food court and other facilities will be developed on this side. Work will start here soon.
Passengers crossing Varuna can travel through the second entry gate
Most of the passengers from across Varuna catch the train from the second entrance of Cantt station. Every day 30 to 35 thousand passengers travel from this side. During the yard remodeling, there is a lack of facilities including waiting room due to widening of platform number nine on this side.
