The consecration of Ram temple is to take place on January 22 in Ayodhya. But before that, it is being claimed on social media that on January 22, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will issue new notes of Rs 500 with photos of Lord Ram and Ram Temple.
What is being claimed?
Pictures of notes with Lord Ram’s picture have also been shared on social media platform X (earlier Twitter). It is written in this post that it has been heard that new notes of Rs 500 will be issued on 22 January. If this happens, it will be like a dream come true. Jai Shri Ram. While sharing these photos, another user wrote, From ‘Father of the Nation’ to ‘Lord of the Nation’! New notes of Rs 500 will be issued on 22/01/2024.
In the pictures of the alleged new Rs 500 note shared by the users, photos of Lord Ram and Ram Temple have been placed in place of the Red Fort. Such posts have also been seen on Facebook.
What did we learn about the claim?
On looking closely at the alleged new currency notes, many holes are visible. This shows that the photographs present in the note have been digitally altered. In the pictures, blur is visible around the photo of Lord Ram as well as the temple, which shows that these photos have been added by blurring the photos of Red Fort and Mahatma Gandhi. Apart from this, looking at the word ‘Ram Mandir’ written below the photo, it is clearly visible that what is written in the note has been hidden by applying a blur strip and Ram Mandir has been written on top of it.
The viral pictures of the alleged new notes had a watermark near the left corner that read X raghunmurthy07. A user named @raghunmurthy07 has also responded to a fake post on the social media platform. In this he wrote, Sir, I have made the photo of Ram on ₹ 500 note. This is just my imagination, please do not spread misinformation. When raghunmurthy07 was asked, he said that he used “Pixart, Lightroom, and Pixellab” to create the viral photos.

According to logicalfacts.com, there is no credibility in the news that new Rs 500 notes will be issued with pictures of Lord Ram and Ram Temple. The official website of the Reserve Bank of India has also not issued any statement regarding the change in the photo of Mahatma Gandhi and the Red Fort on the ₹500 note. Usually RBI makes major announcements like introduction of new notes on its official website.

The photo of the Rs 500 note in the ‘Know Your Notes’ section on the RBI website still has the picture of Mahatma Gandhi and the Red Fort. Not only this, the number of the official note released by RBI is in the order ‘000000’, whereas the number of the note in the viral pictures is ‘6CM 302 379’. This indicates that the note of this number is already in circulation.
logicalfacts.com contacted Yogesh Dayal, Chief General Manager, Communications Department of RBI. He said that the Central Bank has no information regarding the launch of new currency notes.
What is the truth?
Lord Ram and Ram Mandir The picture of notes bearing the picture of Rs. 1000 which is going viral is completely fake. RBI has not made any announcement regarding the change. Therefore this claim is completely wrong.
