Fake Police Encounter: Nowadays there is talk of encounter every other day, it is seen in the news that the police has encountered a criminal. Most of such cases come from Uttar Pradesh. Many of these encounters are such that questions arise. Recently there was a lot of uproar regarding the Mangesh Yadav encounter. There are many such big encounter cases, which were much discussed. Although in most of the cases the police get a clean chit, there is also a case in which 18 policemen were sentenced to life imprisonment.

This famous case is from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, where a young man had come for his job interview, but after an argument with the police, he was encountered. The matter was not revealed to everyone earlier, the story told to everyone by the police was quite interesting and like a film script.
Actually, it is about the year 2009, when the then President Pratibha Patil was to visit Dehradun. For this, security arrangements were tight at every intersection. Meanwhile, three youths were coming on a bike near the sawmill in Dehradun, who were stopped by the outpost in-charge and other policemen. During this, there was an argument between the three youths and the policemen and it was said that the matter reached a scuffle. Two youths ran away, but a youth named Ranbir Singh was caught by the police.
This is how the encounter happened
The police decided to encounter Ranbir Singh to take revenge for the fight and raising his hand. After this he was taken to the forest of Ladpur area and shot. To vent out their anger, the policemen fired more than 20 rounds on his body. That is, to take revenge, the police carried out this fake encounter and later created a story and called it a real encounter.

This was the police story
The police created a story shielding the President’s visit, in which it was said that during checking, three youths were stopped by the police and they beat up the policemen. During this time an attempt was also made to snatch the police pistol. The youth snatched the pistol and ran towards the forest and there Ranbir Singh was killed in an encounter with the police. The remaining two youths fled from the spot.
After this, the news of this encounter spread rapidly in the media and Ranbir Singh’s father termed this entire encounter as fake. When others also started raising questions, the case was handed over to CB-CID. After this, when the post mortem report came out, the policemen started getting exposed. The policemen had beaten Ranbir badly before killing him and later he was shot with about 22 bullets.
Court sentenced
CB-CID submitted the complete report in the court and it was proved that Ranbir Singh encounter was completely fake. In June 2014, the Tis Hazari court sentenced 17 of the 18 policemen to life imprisonment, while one policeman was later convicted of destroying evidence. After this, this case reached the top in the list of biggest fake encounters of the country. This was the only case in which so many policemen were sentenced simultaneously.
