Famous Jalebi: There is a long line here for desi ghee jalebis, you will not be able to forget the taste

Though jalebis are available at many shops, the taste of desi ghee jalebis made by Baba Sammi of Hardoi is different. Jalebis customers line up at his shop since morning and they have to wait for hours for their turn.

Baba Sammi used to run a sweet shop in 1952 at Railway Ganj in Hardoi. Even then people were crazy about his jalebis, but after his death, catering work was being done by two generations by moving away from his business. But in August 2022, through the great-grandsons of Baba Sammi Halwai, once again started feeding Jalebis, the heritage of their ancestors, to the residents of the city.

Desi ghee jalebis are in demand

Normal ghee jalebis are easily available at every confectionary shop in Hardoi. But there was a longing for jalebis made of desi ghee. But from August 2022, at the shop opened in the name of Baba Sammi Halwai, Jalebis made of desi ghee have become the first choice of the customers. Although normal jalebis are also made here, but there is a long queue of customers for special desi ghee jalebis.

Two types of jalebis are available

Sandeep Gupta, the owner of Baba Sammi Confectionery, says that two types of jalebis are prepared for the customers at his shop. In which desi ghee jalebi and another normal ghee jalebi which is delivered to the customers with the help of many artisans with cleanliness. On the other hand, if we look at the difference in the rate of both the jalebis, then desi ghee jalebi is available at Rs.400 per kg and Dalda ghee jalebi at Rs.120 per kg. Means there is a difference of 280 rupees in both, yet the first choice of the customers is jalebis made of desi ghee.

Baba’s Jalebi became the first choice of customers

Jalebis of Baba Sammi of Hardoi are becoming the first choice of the customers. Munendra, a resident of western UP, posted in the Police Department in Hardoi, says that like Baba Sammi Halwai’s jalebis, he also gets jalebis here and that’s why he comes here to eat jalebis. So they taste like the jalebis of their city. On the other hand, Rajeev says that their jalebis are thin, crisp and fresh.
