The farmers’ movement is showing no signs of stopping. A large number of farmers are continuously moving towards Delhi. Even before this, farmers had expressed strong protest. The protests in the year 2020-21 continued for a long time. That movement was discussed all over the world. But now a similar movement seems to be starting once again. Heavy police force is deployed in Delhi. Police are deployed with barricades on the borders of Haryana, Punjab and UP. Besides, surveillance is also being done with the help of drones. At the same time, Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda says that farmer organizations should understand that no decision can be taken in haste. The Center will continue talks with farmer unions. Continuous work is being done to find a solution.
What are the demands this time?
- Law guaranteeing minimum price for farmers’ crops.
- According to the Land Act of 2013, if the land is sold, the collector will be given compensation four times the current rate.
- India should exit the World Trade Union and free trade deals should be stopped.
- The farmers who died during the first movement in Delhi should be compensated and any member of their family should be given a job.
- The Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 should be abolished.
- Give government pension to farmers and farm labourers.
- Penalty for spurious seeds, pesticides and fertilizers.
- Under NREGA, the appointment guarantee of 100 days should be increased to 200 days in a year. One day wage should be Rs 700. Along with this, farmers should be connected to it.
- The quality of seeds should be improved.
- A national commission should be formed for chilli and turmeric.
- Farmers should continue to get the rights to water, forest and land.
- Punishment for the accused who ran over farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in October 2021.
