Officials and farmers of Saatha Sugar Mill Sangharsh Morcha have expressed their concern and anger over the non-commencement of the renovation work of the sugar mill. They have announced to oppose the state’s sugarcane and sugar mill and district in-charge minister Chaudhary Lakshmi Narayan who is coming to Aligarh to inaugurate the exhibition on February 1.
In this sequence, a meeting of Saatha Sugar Mill Sangharsh Morcha was held on 29 January. In which concern was expressed over the work of renovation of the sugar mill not having started even after the announcement. Farmer leader Dr. Shailendra Pal Singh said that on August 28, 2023, a delegation of farmers had met the Sugarcane and Sugar Mills Minister in the presence of MLC Dr. Manvendra Pratap Singh and Coal MLA Anil Parashar. Then he assured that the work of renovation of the sugar mill would start by October, but even after five months have passed, no work has started.
The sugarcane farmers of the district have been struggling for the renovation of the sugar mill for the last six years, but nothing has happened. He announced that he will try to meet and hold talks with the Sugarcane Minister who is coming to Aligarh on February 1. If the meeting does not take place, he will not allow the Minister in-charge to inaugurate the exhibition. Harendra Singh, Kaushal Kumar, Vikas Lodhi, Ravendrapal Singh, Robbie Thakur, Ajit Singh, Manvendra Singh etc. were present on this occasion.
