Suddenly smoke started rising in the AC coach of Awadh-Assam Express train in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. After this, there was a stir among the passengers traveling in the train. Many passengers started jumping from the bogie as soon as the train stopped. However, there was no casualty in this incident. The train was going from Dibrugarh in Assam to Lalgarh (West Bengal).

According to media reports, suddenly smoke started rising from the B2 coach of Avadh-Assam Express going from Dibrugarh to Lalgarh. Within no time smoke filled the AC bogie. Immediately the train was stopped at Ramdayalu station. After this the passengers started running by jumping from the coach. However, the fire was quickly brought under control. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the railway officials reached the spot and sent the train after investigation.

Passengers told that the Awadh-Assam Express had started from Muzaffarpur railway station, but shortly after, suddenly smoke started rising from the AC coach. After this, there was a stir among the passengers. Immediately the train was stopped at the outer signal of Ramdayalu station and the fire was doused. After this the train was brought to Ramdayalu station and a complete investigation was done.

Cause of fire not clear

At present, the reason for the fire is not clear. A railway worker said that the cause of the fire seems to be a short circuit. However, official confirmation is yet to be made. At the same time, the extent of damage caused to the coach by the fire is yet to be ascertained.
