There are also sexual hormones like this. Estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are the hormones that affect the sexual desires and functions of women. Among these, testosterone has the most impact on women’s sexual desires. But it declines during menopause. However, scientists have now invented a skin patch to boost the sexual desire of women going through menopause.
First clinical trial will start in UK
Researchers at the University of Warwick are set to launch the world’s first clinical trial in the UK of a new testosterone patch aimed at boosting libido in women with menopausal symptoms. Researchers believe this could change lives around the world. Although testosterone creams and gels are available in some countries, they have to be applied to the skin. Now patch is being started for this.
A trial can change the life of women
Dr Haitham Hamoda, Clinical Lead of the Menopause Service at King’s College Hospital and President of the British Menopause Society, also welcomed the “significant” development because if the trial is successful “it will give women more options”. While the founder of Medherent Company Professor David Huddleton Said, if this trial is successful, it will be the only testosterone replacement patch available globally, and will be the first to be introduced in the UK. further he expressed hope Said to be life changing for women suffering from post menopausal issues nationally and indeed globally.
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommendation
Since 2015, guidelines issued by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) have recommended that menopausal women with low sexual desire should consider testosterone replacement therapy if HRT is not effective, with new Patch aims to bridge the gap in menopause products, providing a treatment specifically for women that can be made widely available.
