Flour Price Central Government Has Introduced OMSS Policy To Reduce

Wheat Flour Price: The central government is taking steps to reduce the rising prices of food grains in the country. In the last few months, there has been an increase in the rates of wheat in the country. It has affected the flour. The price of flour has increased. The disadvantage of the increased flour price was that the bread became expensive and the kitchen budget of the common people started deteriorating. Now the central government is taking steps to control this budget. The effort of the central government is to control the rising prices of flour. Work has also started at the top level regarding this.

The central government will reduce the price of flour in this way
According to media reports, the Union Food Ministry has introduced an Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) policy for the year 2023 regarding wheat prices. Under this scheme, the central government will release 15 to 20 lakh tonnes of food grains from FCI to the wholesalers. The central government has proper stock of wheat. That’s why there will be no food crisis. At the same time, sowing of wheat is also increasing bumper this year. The area under wheat has increased rapidly in the country.

This is how flour prices increased
If we look at the figures of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs itself, last year the average retail rate of the same wheat was Rs 28.53 per kg. While in the same period, on 27 December 2023, the retail rate of wheat reached Rs 32.25 per kg. When the prices of wheat increased, it also affected the prices of flour, the price of flour was Rs 31.74 per kg a year ago. This year it has increased to Rs 37.25 per kg. Let us tell you that the OMSS policy of the Central Government is very important. The state-owned Food Corporation of India (FCI) allows food grains, especially wheat and rice, to be sold at pre-determined prices in the open market to bulk consumers and private traders in the face of a food crisis in the country. Due to this, the food grains running in the market are finished or reduced.

Due to these reasons the production of wheat had decreased.
According to the records of the central government, there was a decrease in wheat production last year. The Ukraine-Russia war was considered a big reason behind this. Apart from this, the effect of heat wave was also seen on the wheat crop last year. The wheat crop was affected by the heat wave and the production decreased. If we look at the statistics of the central government, till December 15, about 180 lakh tonnes of wheat and 111 lakh tonnes of rice were available in the central pool. Due to less supply, wheat production is to come down to 106.84 million tonnes in the crop year 2021-22 (July-June). A year ago, this year was 10 crore 95.9 lakh tonnes. Now the new wheat has to be purchased. It will start from April 2023.
