Nowadays, people with modern lifestyle have become so busy that they do not even get time to cook food. Nowadays the market is full of packed food. There are many food items which are absolutely ‘ready to eat’. You can easily bring it home and then mix it in hot water and eat it immediately.
Companies making packed food often claim that it is completely natural and fresh. Eating this will not cause any harm to the body. People blindly follow the instructions written outside the pack. But now a surprising report has come out regarding such a product.
ICMR claim
ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) has presented a report regarding packed food in which it has been claimed that the information given on packaged food is misleading. Doing this can be a threat to health. Many such cases have been seen that the information given on packed food is completely wrong.
According to ICMR, the products of companies claiming to be sugar free contain very high amount of fat. Which can prove to be very harmful for the body. Packed fruit juices contain only 10 percent fruit juice.
Packed food companies fool consumers. ICMR clearly said that packaged foods are prepared in such a way that they attract the attention of the consumer. To persuade them to use this product as much as possible.
What is organic product?
Hyderabad-based National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), an organization under ICMR, has issued a guideline regarding diet. He clearly said that the information written on packed food can be misleading. A product is called natural only when no colour, flavor or any special substance has been added to it. Nowadays people are selling a lot of food items in the name of organic.
Misleading information is written on packed food
NIN clearly said in its report that brands claiming to be real juices contain high amounts of sugar and other ingredients. It may contain only 10 percent of the actual fruit.
These elements may also be included
Does bread that sells itself as made with whole grains actually contain whole grains? NIN clearly said that brands that claim to be sugar free contain a lot of sugar hidden in them. It may contain maltitol, fructose, corn, syrup. When something is being called organic, it simply means that its taste, color and external chemicals have not been added. If mixed then it should not be called organic. This is almost certainly false.
It is very important to read labels
There is a brand name on the front of any packed food. Don’t buy stuff just by looking at it. Before buying, please read the back side of the pack once. Read carefully whatever information is given about the pack on the back side. Companies selling packaged food clearly explain all the ingredients on the back side of the label of the packet.
This is the right way to read labels
You eat and drink packed food items with great enthusiasm. The biggest feature of this list is that its entire list of ingredients is in descending order. That means the element which is present the most is the first and the element which is present the least is the last. That means the elements present in lesser quantity are written at the end.
