It is being told that the incident occurred due to suffocation due to the smoke emanating from the coal fireplace in a house in Khedakalan of Alipur police station in Delhi late on Saturday night. Rakesh alias Deenanath alias Dinkar (40), wife Lalita Devi (38), sons Piyush (08) and Sunny (07) of Manjhaganya village died. The deceased Dinanath alias Dinkar was the only earning member of the family.

Cremation was done in Delhi itself

Ramgulam Singh, cousin of the deceased, said that due to cold the entire family had slept by lighting a coal fireplace in the room. After that, all four people sleeping in the room died of suffocation due to the smoke coming out of the fireplace. The news of this incident was received on Sunday morning, since then there has been mourning in the family. The people of the village are saddened by the death of four family members on the same day. After the post-mortem, the cremation of all four got done on Monday by other family members living in Delhi.

He told that the deceased Dinanath used to support the family by driving a vehicle in Delhi. He also used to take care of his elderly mother and brother Jhabo Singh living at the house in Manjhaganya.

‘I came to the village only a few days ago’

At the same time, Dinanath’s mother Savitri Devi tearfully told that her son had come to her grandson’s wedding a few days ago and went to Delhi the very next day. On the night the incident took place, his son called me at 3 o’clock in the morning and as soon as he spoke the phone got disconnected. My son was very restless and told that everyone had fallen asleep and as soon as he said this, the son also died. While telling this, the deceased’s mother Savitri Devi became unconscious.

The entire village was saddened by the incident.

Here, villager Avinash Singh said that this incident is very sad for the villagers. The entire village is inconsolable after hearing this incident. Had there been employment in the village itself, at least his elderly mother and blind brother’s family would have been able to perform his last rites. What could be more unfortunate than that an elderly mother could not even see her son, daughter-in-law and grandson for the last time.
