CAA Rules: The Central Government has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 i.e. CAA across India from today i.e. March 11, 2024. This act was passed by the government in December 2019. On which it was to be implemented after the signature of the President. But there was a lot of opposition to it across the country. Due to which the situation could not become such that it could be implemented. But now the Central Government has implemented this all over India. 2014 is the cut off year
When the Central Government made changes in the Citizenship Amendment Act. So during that time the government had made an announcement regarding the rules. Under the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, there is a provision to give Indian citizenship to minority people of three countries. Which includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. CAA, till December 31, 2014, all the minorities living in India from these three Muslim countries have started coming and living in India. Only he will be given Indian citizenship under this Act. That means the government has considered the year 2014 as the basis for implementing this Act.
How will the minorities who came after 2014 get citizenship?
Under the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, minority people from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan were living in India before 31 October 2014. Now they will be given citizenship after the implementation of this Act. But at present the government has not made any rules regarding those who have come after 2014. Those people will have to apply through the normal process of getting Indian citizenship as per the law.
