Surajpal Singh, who was in charge of collecting intelligence information in the Intelligence Unit (LIU), suddenly became so disillusioned with the service of the Intelligence Department that he took voluntary retirement from the service in 1997. He decided to follow the spiritual path. He changed his name from Surajpal to Bhole Baba. In 1999, he converted his village house into an ashram. He started conducting satsang here.
Surajpal Singh, a resident of Bahadur Nagar in Patiali area, was posted as a constable in the intelligence department. After this, he was promoted to the post of head constable and he took voluntary retirement while holding the post of head constable. As soon as the satsang discourses started, Surajpal got recognition as Bhole Baba and his wife got recognition as Matashri.
They have no children. The spiritual journey of Bhole Baba, which started in 1997, spread rapidly. People started coming to Bhole Baba’s satsang with their problems and claimed that Bhole Baba would cure their diseases by touching them with his hands. The caravan of his followers kept increasing in the fascination of satsang and miracles.
In this journey of two and a half decade, thousands of people started coming to his satsang. People kept becoming his followers because of his miracles. Bhole Baba became famous not only in Patiali but also in many states including Kasganj, Etah, Badaun, Farrukhabad, Hathras, Aligarh, Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and thousands of people became his followers in the country. Bhole Baba’s followers are also fanatic towards him, no one likes to hear criticism of Baba.
Whether Baba is there or not, devotees reach the ashram in large numbers
Bhole Baba’s ashram is located in Bahadurnagar village of Patiyali tehsil area of the district. This is also his ancestral village. Bhole Baba has a big ashram in Bahadur Nagar. Earlier, satsang used to be held in this ashram on every Tuesday of the week, but this tradition has been broken since a few years. People say that Baba has not come to the ashram for the last several years. People also say that whether Baba stays in the ashram or not, the process of his devotees coming continues uninterrupted.
Baba’s devotees come here especially on Tuesdays, but they come on other days as well. There is also a belief among the devotees that people take bath with the tap water in the ashram and take the tap water with them in bottles as prasad.
