The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

The BJP had fielded Mahant Shambhunath Tundia on the Gadda assembly seat in Botad district. AAP’s Rameshbhai Parmar was in front of him. BJP’s Mahant Shambhunath Tundia defeated AAP’s Rameshbhai Parmar by 26,694 votes. BJP candidate got 64,386 votes while AAP got 37,692 votes here. Congress remained at number three. Congress’s Jagdishkumar Chavda got 29,899 votes which was 21.93 per cent of the total votes. The deposits of BSP and BTP candidates were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,031 votes here.

Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Gadda assembly seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress had made Pravinbhai Maru its candidate from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Atmaram Parmar by nine thousand votes. A total of eight candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining six candidates were forfeited. Earlier in 2007 and 2012, BJP’s Atmaram Parmar won from here for two consecutive terms. Congress had won here in 2002. At the same time, earlier in 1990, 1995 and 1998, lotus blossomed in Gadda for three consecutive times. In 1995 and 1998, Atmaram Parmar had fed lotus here.
From 1972 to 1985, this seat went to the account of the Congress for four consecutive terms. Whereas, in the 1967 elections, RB Gohil of the Swatantra Party had won here. In the total elections held so far, BJP and Congress have won six times in Gadda. However, in the last few elections, the BJP has been dominating this assembly seat.
