The water level of Ganga continues to rise. Due to the rains in the hilly areas and the water released from the Ganga Barrage, the water level is increasing. Due to rising water level of Ganga on Monday night, the road from Tripura Bhairavi to Meerghat and Hanuman Ghat to Shiwala Ghat was closed due to rise in Ganga water. Despite this, tourists and local people were seen coming and going by setting up posts. People kept going from one side to the other by climbing the slope connecting Hanuman Ghat and Shivala Ghat. Some people even slipped and fell. At the same time, many young men and women were getting down by holding the rope tied to cross the shield. After a pause of a few hours in the morning, the water level of Ganga started rising at a rate of one centimeter per hour. From 8.30 am till night, the rate of increase remained one centimeter per hour. According to the Central Water Commission, there is a possibility of further increase in the water in the Ganga. According to the bulletin issued by the commission, the water level of Ganga was recorded at 61.25 meters at 8 am on Monday. A rise of 14 cm was recorded in the water level at 8 pm and the water level was 62.37 metres.

Outposts started saving, sailors also alert

Seeing the increase in the water level of Ganga, boatmen and pilgrimage priests have become alert. The pilgrimage priests have started saving their posts. The sailors are also busy handling their boats. A lot of hyacinths have gathered in the ropes tied to the boats from the shore.
