The process of land acquisition was started a few months ago by talking to the land owners of 14 villages on the Gorakhpur-Kushinagar road and 12 villages on the Balapar-Tikariya road on the basis of consent, but due to the opposition of the farmers, the matter was put on hold. On Thursday, GDA Vice President Anand Vardhan, Secretary UP Singh, OSD Shivam Singh, Executive Engineer Narendra Kumar held a meeting with lawmen and accountants of the respective villages of Sadar tehsil. A detailed discussion regarding purchasing of land was held in the meeting. In this, agreement was reached to purchase land directly from the farmers. The Vice President instructed the officials of the authority to start the process of purchasing land directly from the farmers. He said that the authority is currently considering both acquisition and direct purchase options.
