On Monday, lawyers protested by blocking the city’s Deputyganj intersection regarding the Ghaziabad incident. During this, action was demanded against the policemen who lathi-charged the lawyers in Ghaziabad. School children and pedestrians faced hardships due to the jam for 45 minutes. On the other hand, due to the strike the plaintiffs had to return dejected on Monday also.

Lawyers from 22 districts including Moradabad in Western Uttar Pradesh are on indefinite strike in protest against the lathicharge on lawyers in Ghaziabad. On Monday afternoon, Bar President Pradeep Sinha alias Babli addressed the lawyers in the auditorium of The Bar Association and Library.

He said that strict action should be taken against those who lathicharge lawyers in Ghaziabad, so that such incidents do not happen again. The government administration should give assurance for this. Advocates take the poor to court to get justice, but in today’s time advocates are feeling unsafe.

After this, all the advocates took out a procession and reached Deputyganj intersection and blocked the road. They created a huge uproar here regarding the Ghaziabad incident. Protested at the intersection for about 45 minutes. Due to which there was jam on Bangla Gaon Road, Gurhatti Road, Jhabbu Ka Nala Road and Civil Lines Road, due to which school children and pedestrians had to face problems.

Bar general secretary Abhishek Bhatnagar said that lawyers will not do judicial work until our demands are met. Former Bar President Amirul Hasan Jafri, Anand Mohan Gupta, Kamal Akhtar, Neeraj Singh, Trilok Chandra Diwakar, Rajiv Chaudhary, Neeraj Saulanki, Parul Aggarwal, Deepika Verma, Saista Parveen and other advocates were present among those who blocked the Deputyganj intersection.
