According to the Mirror report, the matter is of Britain. Detective Inspector Rebecca Kalam of West Midlands Police, like many other girls, had dreamed of joining the police. He worked hard and one day he achieved success. In 2012, Rebecca joined the police. But what happened after that is disturbing for anyone. During training he had to work as a stooge. His clothes were cut off. Even objectionable orders were given regarding undergarments. Due to which she became uncomfortable and filed a case in the court.
Only seven women in the team of 250 men
Rebecca said, there were only seven women in the team of 250 men. We were subjected to gender discrimination. Once the trainer hit my back with his foot so hard that I had to be taken to the hospital. He used to say that just because you are a woman, it does not mean that you cannot do pressups. You have to do this. When he complained, West Midlands Police suspended three officers. Investigation started against 10 trainers.
The court decision came after a few days
The court’s decision came after a few days. The court imposed a fine of 820,720 pounds i.e. Rs 8.44 crore on the police force and the trainer. Judge Christopher Camp said, Rebecca was not only subjected to gender discrimination, but the objectionable language in which she was spoken to cannot be tolerated. Rebecca is an ambitious woman, but this behavior blocked her path. The police have made him so unwell that he has been medically retired. Speaking to BBC, Rebecca said, I was very saddened by the behavior of the officers. Now after the decision I am feeling very good. My intention was not just to complain. This culture of the police department had to be changed.
