Till now, if you have to unsubscribe from such mails in mobile, then you have to go to the website of that sender and unsubscribe from the mails by clicking on the ‘Unsubscribe’ button. Similarly, in the web version too, at present this option comes at the very bottom of the mails. Now the company is simplifying this entire process so that users do not face any problems.
Google is dividing the ‘Report Spam and Unsubscribe’ category into two separate options. That means you will now get two options, one to unsubscribe and the other to report spam. Through Google Workspace, the company said that for the convenience of the users, Google is simplifying the way to unsubscribe from unnecessary mails. The company also said that it has issued a new guideline for bulk email senders last year.
The company said it is moving the unsubscribe button to hover actions in the threads list on the web. As soon as a user clicks on this button, Gmail will send an HTTP request to the email sender so that the user’s email ID can be removed from the mailing address. After this you will not receive any mails from that sender in future. Along with this, the company is shifting the unsubscribe button in Android and iOS to the three dot menu so that it is better visible to the people.
This option will have to be given before February
According to the report of 9to5 Google, such mail senders who send more than 5000 mails will have to add one-click unsubscribe button in the mail before February 2024. This button should be clearly visible in the mails, and companies will have to process the mail unsubscribe request within 2 days. Overall, now users will be able to get rid of promotional mails etc. in one click.
