Family members and locals block the road in protest against the incident

A child died after drowning in a pit dug for road construction in Gopalganj. The incident took place in Pyarepur NH-27 of Barauli police station. After the death, angry family members blocked the NH-27. The family members accused the road construction company of negligence and demanded that the DM be called to the spot. On receiving the information, Sadar SDPO 2 Abhay Kumar Ranjan reached the spot and assured the child’s family of a compensation of four lakh rupees. After this, the family members calmed down.
According to the information, NH road construction work is going on along NH-27 near Pyarepur village of Barauli police station and the company had dug a pit for bridge construction. Due to the depth of the pit, it was filled with rainwater. It is being told that on Monday evening, a child playing on the roadside slipped and fell into the pit, due to which he died on the spot. After the incident, the people present on the spot blocked the road, blaming the government and the road construction company for the incident.
The family members created a ruckus accusing the road construction company of working without safety measures. Due to the ruckus, a long queue of vehicles was formed on NH-27. Administrative officials reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The matter was settled only after the officials assured compensation of Rs 4 lakh on the death of the child.
