The police arrested ANM Reena of the health department from Uruwa town on Saturday, who was accused of selling government medicines illegally at a tea, pakoda and paan shop in Uruwa area of Gorakhpur. She was absconding since the case was registered in July last year.
Accused Reena is a resident of Gauvapar village of Belthara Road police station in Ballia district. She was posted at Uruwa Health Center. It is alleged that she was selling the hospital medicines at high prices by stealing them in connivance with the police station chowkidar. Uruwa police raided the shops and recovered a large quantity of medicines.
On the complaint of sub-inspector Ravi Chaudhary, a case was registered against the police station chowkidar and ANM under the Indian Medical Council Act in July last year. The accused chowkidar Parmanand Mishra has already been arrested in this case. The accused ANM was absconding since the case was registered.
Police said that Reena, wife of Manoj Kumar, was an ANM at Uruva Health Center. The police station’s chowkidar had a paan shop in front of the health center. With the help of the chowkidar, Reena had made arrangements in the nearby shops. The ANM used to steal the medicines given free of cost by the government and send them to tea, pakoda and paan shops.
