Govinda revealed Salman Khan had called him to get lead role for Judwaa 1997

According to media reports, Govinda had said, ‘Those days I was shooting for ‘Banarasi Babu’. David ji brought me the offer of ‘Judwaa’, I liked the story and I said yes. Some scenes of the film were also shot but one night I got a call from Salman bhai.’

In this, Govinda further said, ‘He told me that he does not have any work right now, so can I give him this film.’ Govinda also mentioned that Salman Khan liked the story of ‘Judwaa’, so Salman Khan said this to him as a friend. Govinda further said, ‘I immediately said yes to Bhai and the next day I met David ji and got Salman Bhai’s name signed..’

How was ‘Judwaa’ at the box office?

The film Judwaa, directed by David Dhawan and produced by Sajid Nadiawala, was a superhit. Salman Khan had a double role in the film, while actresses like Karisma Kapoor and Rambha were seen in the film. According to Sacnilk, the budget of the film Judwaa was Rs 6.25 crore while the film collected Rs 23.40 crore worldwide at the box office.
