Grammy Awards 2024: This year India has got a chance to be proud at the Grammy Awards. India won three awards at the 66th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on Sunday. Four musicians, including Indian singer Shankar Mahadevan and tabla player Zakir Hussain, won Grammy Awards.
Shankar Mahadevan-Zakir Hussain’s band wins Grammy Award
Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s band Shakti’s album This Moment won the Grammy Award. It was awarded the Grammy Award in the Best Global Music category. Indian musician and Grammy winner Ricky Cage has congratulated the band by sharing a video. Cage posted the video on his official 4 brilliant Indian musicians won Grammy Awards through this album!! Ricky Cage has also shared Shankar Mahadevan’s speech from the stage. In the speech, Singer said that “John McLaughlin could not attend this event. “We miss you, John.” Shankar said, “Thank you… God.” Family, friends and India, we are proud to be Indians. I want to dedicate this award to my wife, for whom every note of my music is dedicated.”
Flute player Rakesh Chaurasia also received Grammy Award
Rakesh Chaurasia, son of the country’s very famous flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, also won the Grammy. He received awards in two different categories. He was awarded the Grammy Award for Pashto Song in the Best Global Music Performance category and for As We Speak in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Elham category.
