A fire broke out in a grocery shop in Patel Nagar located in Harnaut Bazaar. Shopkeeper Ajay Kumar told that the grocery shop is operated in his house only. After closing the shop at around 10:00 pm on Monday night, he went to sleep in the back part of the house. Smoke was coming out of the shop early on Tuesday morning. On which the neighbors noticed. The neighbors raised an alarm. After this, when they woke up, a cloud of smoke was rising from the shop. The fire that broke out in the shop gradually engulfed other parts of the house as well.

Information about the fire was given to the local police station. The fire was brought under control after about 3 hours with the help of the fire brigade and local people who reached the spot. By then the goods kept in the shop and the house were completely burnt to ashes. The victim said that there was a loss of property worth around Rs 8 to 10 lakh in the fire incident. It is feared that the shop caught fire due to short circuit. After receiving information about the incident, Harnaut Circle Officer along with the local councilor and the police station chief reached the spot.

Harnaut police station chief Mohammad Abu Talib Ansari said that after receiving information about the fire, three small and big fire engines were sent to the spot. After hard work the fire has been brought under control. The victim’s family is busy assessing the loss. Advance action will be taken upon receipt of the application.
