The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. Four seats fell in the lap of others.

The Akota assembly seat in Vadodara district was crucial for the ruling BJP. He has won all the three elections held here so far. For the first time in 2012, elections were held on this seat which came into existence after delimitation in 2008. This time BJP had given ticket to Chaitanya Desai on this seat. In this election he defeated Rutvij Dilipbhai Joshi of INC by 77,753 votes.

BJP won here in 2017
The BJP had won this seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP fielded Seemaben Mohile. He defeated Congress candidate Ranjit Chavan by 57 thousand votes. A total of seven candidates were in the fray in this election, out of which the deposits of five candidates were forfeited.
Prior to 2017, the BJP had won this seat in the 2012 elections as well. Saurabh Patel, who contested from the BJP, defeated Lalitbhai Patel of the Congress.

Voting took place here in the second phase
For the 2022 elections, the BJP had denied ticket to sitting MLA Seemaben Mohile on this seat. In place of Mohile, the BJP fielded Chaitanya Makarandbhai Desai. Whereas, Congress made Ritwij Dilipbhai Joshi its candidate. Shashank Khare was in the fray from the Aam Aadmi Party. Polling on this seat will be held in the second phase on December 5. The results will come on December 8.

BJP won eight seats in Vadodara in 2017
Akota seat is one of the ten assembly seats in Vadodara district. In 2017, BJP had won eight out of ten seats in the district. At the same time, Congress was successful in winning two seats.
