The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. Four seats fell in the lap of others.
There were some seats in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly Elections where the opposition Congress is dominating as compared to the BJP. For this election, the Congress had fielded Pannaben Anilbhai Patel on this seat. However, he was defeated by BJP’s Ishwarbhai alias Anilbhai Ramanbhai Parmar by 89,948 votes.
The ST-reserved Bardoli seat in Surat, a BJP stronghold, was special for the Congress. The party has won seven out of 14 elections here. However, in the last three elections only BJP has won here. Elections were held here for the first time in 1962.
BJP won here in 2017
The BJP had won this seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had given ticket to sitting MLA Ishwarbhai Parmar. He defeated Tarun Kumar Vaghela of Congress by 34 thousand votes. A total of five candidates were in the fray in this election. Except for the candidates of BJP and Congress, the deposits of three candidates were forfeited.
Prior to 2017, the BJP had won this seat in the 2012 elections as well. In that election, Ishwarbhai Parmar, who contested from the BJP, defeated Nitinbhai Rana of the Congress.
BJP gave chance to Ishwar Bhai Parmar for the third time
For the 2022 elections, BJP had made sitting MLA Ishwarbhai Parmar its candidate for the third time on this seat. At the same time, the Congress had declared Pannaben Anilbhai Patel as its candidate. The seat went to polls in the first phase on December 1. The results came on 8 December.
BJP won 14 seats in Surat district in 2017
Bardoli Vidhansabha seat is one of the 16 Vidhansabha seats under Surat district. In 2017, BJP got a bumper victory in 14 out of 16 seats in the district. Whereas, the Congress was successful in winning only two seats.
