The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. Four seats went to the accounts of others.
Daskroi in Ahmedabad district which is under BJP control since 1985. The BJP had nominated sitting MLA Babubhai Patel as its candidate for this election. Babubhai defeated Congress candidate Budhaji Zala by a margin of 91,637 votes.
BJP had won here in 2017
The BJP had won this seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had given ticket to sitting MLA Babubhai Patel. Babubhai defeated Pankajbhai Patel of Congress by 45,000 votes. A total of ten candidates were in the fray in this election. Except for the candidates of BJP and Congress, the deposits of the remaining eight candidates were forfeited.
Before 2017, the BJP had won this seat in 2012 as well. In that election, Babubhai Patel, who contested from the BJP, defeated Laxman Bhai Baraiya of the Congress.
BJP has not lost this seat since 1990
This seat in North Gujarat is considered as a stronghold for the ruling BJP. The party has won all the elections held since 1990. The last victory of the Congress was in 1985, since then it is as if there has been a drought of victory here.
Thakor and Patel voters decide victory
The Daskroi seat is one of the few seats in Gujarat where Thakor and Patel voters decide the fate of political parties. Here Thakor is the maximum voter followed by Patel. Apart from these two, there are also a large number of Dalit and Kshatriya voters.
The BJP had fielded its sitting MLA Babubhai Patel on this seat for the 2022 elections. Before this election, Babubhai has won four consecutive elections. The Congress had declared Ummedi Budhaji Zala as its candidate for this seat. Polling on this seat was held in the second phase on December 5. The results came on 8 December.
In 2017, BJP had won 15 seats in Ahmedabad district.
Daskroi seat comes in Ahmedabad district. There are total 21 seats in this district. In 2017, BJP had won 15 out of 21 seats in the district. At the same time, the Congress was successful in winning six seats.
