Once again a strange case has come to the fore from Madhya Pradesh. A person named Lalu Prasad Yadav of Bihar has also been made an accused in the illegal arms purchase case. But this case of 25 years ago has been transferred to MP MLA court some time back. Because it has been presented before the court that this accused is none other than Lalu Prasad Yadav, former CM of Bihar. An arrest warrant has also been issued for him from the court. While the lawyers appearing for the accused are calling it a misunderstanding.

According to the information, the matter has come to the fore from Gwalior. Let’s go back a bit to know the matter. Between 23 August 1995 and 15 May 1997, the case of illegal purchase of arms and cartridges from a total of three firms was opened. A total of 22 people were made accused in this by the police. Out of this, two have died, while 14 are absconding. Trial is going on in the court against six people.

After investigation of the case, charge sheet was filed in July 1998. In April 1998, the police prepared absconding panchnama of Lalu Prasad Yadav, a resident of Bihar. It was from here that a mistake was made and the accused was accepted as former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav. After this, the matter has also come to the Gwalior MP-MLA (special court set up for the hearing of MPs, Ministers and MLAs) court. However, even the police and government lawyers are not able to clarify that this is the same Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Now many questions are also coming up in the matter. It is being said that the people responsible for the case, including the police, put the matter before the court without verifying it. It is also being said that why former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav needed to buy illegal weapons. The name is similar and Bihar is written next. Without investigation, it was accepted that this name belongs to RJD President Lalu Prasad.

It is not proved that the matter is related to the former CM.
Advocate Abhishek Sharma, appearing in court for one of the accused in the case, Vishnu Kanodia resident of Kanpur, has claimed that former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has nothing to do with the case. Only Lalu Prasad Yadav Bihar is written in the challan, it does not prove that the matter is related to the former Chief Minister. Even if this had happened, Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was seen in public and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital, would have been arrested long ago.

implying from the evidence
District Prosecution Branch’s ADPO Abhishek Sirauthia says that on January 19, 2022, the case came to the Special Court MPMLA Court after being transferred from the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class Gwalior. Since the matter is sub judice, the details regarding its contents cannot be disclosed as it is sub judice. But in respect of Lalu Prasad Yadav, orders have been given by the Honorable Court. The same is being inferred on the basis of the present available evidence.
