This year, 50 Muslim women will perform Hajj without male companions (Mehram). This time the number of women going on Haj pilgrimage alone has increased. Last year this number was only 39. Till the final list comes, the number of women performing Haj without Mehram may increase further. This is being considered a big step towards the social strength of Muslim women.

Delhi State Haj Committee Chairperson Kausar Jahan said that this year the pilgrims have been selected for Haj pilgrimage through digital random selection. 3022 Haj candidates have been selected from Delhi. On this occasion, he has congratulated all the people selected for Haj pilgrimage. He said that Delhi Haj Committee is committed to providing all types of facilities to the pilgrims like previous years. For this, he has already established contact with various concerned departments of Delhi Government and Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Prime Minister Modi’s government has continuously tried to empower women. This step will further strengthen the social status of Muslim women. This year, pilgrims have been selected for Haj pilgrimage by digital random selection. In this, 3022 Haj applicants have been selected from Delhi.

Delhi State Haj Committee Executive Officer Ashfaq Ahmed Arfi said that this year the total number of applicants for Haj pilgrimage from Delhi was 4084. The total number of candidates selected in proportion to the total Muslim population of Delhi (2158684) as per Census 2011 was 3022, including 2892 from the general category, 80 from the age group of seventy years and above, and the number of women going on Haj pilgrimage without Mehram. Is 50. 1062 applicants are currently kept in the waiting list.

There are a total of 20 Haj embarkation points across the country from where Haj pilgrims will board flights for the journey. Delhi is the biggest embarkation point from where this time a maximum of about 22000 passengers will fly for the holy Haj.
