Often many people travel on foot to religious places. Haj pilgrimage is the most sacred in Islam. Many people go on foot for this journey. This year Sultan Beg has set out for Haj pilgrimage on foot from Motihari in Bihar. The distance of Mecca and Medina is different according to different states of India. If we talk about the total distance of Mecca and Medina from Bihar, it is 6798 kilometers. A person generally walks 40 to 50 kilometers in a day. Whereas if it is evening or night time, then he can walk up to 60 to 70 kilometers.
If you divide 6798 kms at the rate of 50 kms per day, then it takes approximately 136 days. We have told you this calculation after continuously walking. But there are many days in the journey when the travellers are not able to cover even 1 km. Sultan will go to Pakistan via Wagah border, after which he will reach Saudi Arabia via Iran, Iraq, Kuwait. It may take him approximately 1 year to complete this journey.
It took 370 days for Kerala’s Shihab
In June 2022, a youth named Shihab from Kerala started the Haj pilgrimage on foot. During this time, Shihab travelled about 8600 km through five countries. Because Shihab did not go with a visa. That is why he had to stay in a school for several months after reaching Pakistan for a transit visa. Due to this, it took him a lot of time.
