Talking to Saudi Arabia’s government media outlet Al Arabiya on Friday, son Abdulsalam Haniya said that the guided missile was connected to the phone and was tracking the phone. Haniya’s son said that the missile targeted the phone kept near his father’s head and exploded.
In fact, Hamas chief Ismail Haniya was assassinated on 31 July in Iran’s capital Tehran. Haniya had come to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian. After attending the program, Haniya stayed in a highly secured campus of the Iranian army. Haniya was targeted while sleeping at night. At present, Haniya’s son Abdussalam has completely rejected this theory of the New York Times.

Abdussalam told Al Arabiya that I think the story of an explosive device is completely baseless. He said that Haniya’s bodyguards and some advisors were a few meters away from her room. It is clear that if there had been an explosive, the whole place would have blown up. Abdussalam said that it was a guided missile that was connected to his father’s phone. He had kept his phone near his head while sleeping at night, which was targeted by the missile.

Haniya’s son said that his father was using the phone a lot in Iran, even on the day of the incident, he was using the phone till 10:15 pm. Abdussalam said that my father had come to attend an official function and was continuously using the phone, due to which he became an easy target. He said that he suspects that this operation was carried out with the help of America.
