New Year Celebration at LoC: People remained engrossed in celebrations on New Year’s Eve. With the beginning of the New Year at midnight on Sunday (31 December), its pomp was also seen on the Line of Control along the Pakistan border. Indian Army soldiers along with local people celebrated the festival in the villages adjacent to the LOC. The soldiers sipped hot tea with the locals before returning to patrol and guard the LoC post late at night. Also had food and dance. Also wished Happy New Year to everyone.
New Year celebrations started at around 4 pm on Sunday during the severe cold in Churunda village near LOC in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. During the celebration, the army and the villagers reassure each other that they are together through thick and thin. Whenever civilians face any problem, the army comes first.
‘Army comes first to help in times of trouble’
Local social activist Lal Hasan Kohli said that in times of need, citizens have stood shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers. The New Year celebration program was organized by the army itself. Kohli said that the local people are grateful to the army for not allowing the enemy to enter our area. We celebrate all important days with the army. Republic Day It is near and then our Independence Day is in August. Soldiers also participate in wedding ceremonies held in the village. We live like brothers. He said that we have a deep relationship with the army and pray that it remains strong. ,

Village Sarpanch Lal Deen Khatana said that such events help in overcoming problems and enjoying. We celebrate the New Year with the Army at Zero Point on the Line of Control.
