Watermelon Murabba: You must have eaten a lot of mango and gooseberry jam, but have you ever tasted watermelon jam? There would be very few of you who would know about this murabba. These ingredients are needed to make watermelon jam
-rind of a large watermelon
Sugar peeled from 1.5 kg watermelon –
-One cup (200 grams) small cardamom –
-4 Peel and make powder.
-Nutmeg powder.
-Grate a big watermelon.
-Remove the dark green hard peel.
-Grate all the peel and cut it into 1-1 inch pieces.
How to make watermelon jam
-Blanch the watermelon peel.
-Heat so much water in a vessel that the watermelon peel can easily submerge in it.
-When the water boils, take out the watermelon pieces from the water.
-Put the lid on and let it boil for 5 minutes, turn off the gas and take out the watermelon pieces from the water.
-Put the swollen pieces of watermelon in a vessel, add sugar on top and keep covered for 2 hours.
-Sugar combines with watermelon juice to form juice. Now let these watermelon pieces cook in sugar juice on low flame.
-Add cardamom powder and nutmeg and let the syrup thicken.
-Put 1-2 tins of syrup in a plate and when it cools down, press it between your finger and thumb.
If strings start forming in the syrup, then the syrup is ready, after that turn off the gas.
-Leave the marmalade in this syrup. Stir the spoon up and down once a day.
-Check the syrup again after 2-3 days. If the syrup seems thin then repeat the same process until the syrup thickens.
-If you want to make candy, then filter out excess syrup and keep the watermelon pieces separately in a jar.
– Cardamom powder, nutmeg, mace, saffron or vanilla essence are used for flavor in murabba, which you can add to taste as per your choice.
