Kochi: Call it bad luck or the rule of law, but something happened to a poor old man which probably never happened to anyone else. The person who won the first prize of Rs 75 lakh of Kerala Lottery three months ago died in a road accident. 75 year old M.C. Yakub, who was a resident of Ezhipramanayath in Kadayiruppa, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident and was undergoing treatment.

The accident took place on Monday in Moosharipar near Kolancheri. At 6 pm, Yakub, who was coming towards Musharipar, while turning on the road, collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Seriously injured Yakub was admitted to Kolancherry Medical College Hospital, but he died around 5 pm yesterday.

Three months ago Yakub had won the first prize of ‘Stree Shakti Lottery’. Yakub had received the prize money of Rs 75 lakh three weeks ago. The sudden burst of luck left the family in deep sorrow.
