Sperm Count : The sperm count of men around the world is continuously decreasing. In the last 45 years, it has reduced to less than half. According to experts, it is affecting the men of India the most. The report of the journal ‘Human Reproduction Update’ states that since the year 1973, there has been a continuous decrease in sperm count. Due to which the problem of infertility is becoming common. According to scientists, in the coming times, the sperm count of men may decrease more rapidly, which is a matter of concern. In such a situation, let us know what should be your sperm count?
Why is sperm count decreasing?
1. Endocrine disrupting chemicals are reaching the body through food and air, which affects other hormones.
2. Pollution is also decreasing the sperm count of men.
3. Excessive smoking and drinking alcohol can also affect sperm count.
4. Obesity and eating bad things can also reduce sperm count.
5. Imbalance of men’s sex hormone testosterone also reduces sperm count.
6. Genetic disease related to sperm, infection in private parts and sexually transmitted disease like gonorrhea also pose the risk of low sperm count.
How does one detect low sperm count?
Men cannot know about low sperm count without testing. Semen analysis test is done to find out whether the sperm count in a man’s semen is decreasing or not. Most men in India get this test done only when they face fertility problems.
What should be the sperm count?
According to the report of World Health Organization (WHO), healthy semen is determined by the number of sperms, their size and their mobility. After the age of 35, the quality of semen starts deteriorating. According to the number, there are 1.5 crore sperms in 1 ml of semen. If their number is very low, the partner faces difficulty in conceiving i.e. getting pregnant. Sperm movement of men is necessary for a woman’s pregnancy. Along with this, 40% should reach the eggs of the ovaries.
What to do for excellent sperm quality
1. Do not drink alcohol or smoke.
2. Stay in a cool environment.
3. Avoid wearing very tight clothes.
4. Do not keep the laptop on your lap for a long time.
5. Take a good and balanced diet.
6. Lose weight.
7. One should not take bath with hot water continuously.
8. Do not use resin chair, bike or cycle too much.
9. Stay away from fried foods.
