Cholera Vaccine To rid the world of cholera, Bharat Biotech is making an oral vaccine. After getting approval from DCGI, Bharat Biotech International Limited has started working on it. The name of this oral vaccine is Hillchol. According to reports, about 3,600 participants from India took part in the third phase clinical trial. It was found that this vaccine is completely safe and its effect is not less than the existing vaccine so far.
Let us tell you that the demand for Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) is more than 10 crore doses worldwide. Only 6 crore doses of OCV are available worldwide. The new vaccine can play an important role in meeting the shortage of four crore doses.

At the global level, deaths due to cholera have been increasing continuously since 2021. However, its treatment is possible. From the beginning of the year 2023 to March this year, 824,479 cases of cholera were reported in 31 countries, out of which 5,900 people died. According to reports, these doses will benefit not only India but also the African continent, where the situation of cholera is very bad. African countries will have to buy this vaccine from India.
