‘A pot fills up drop by drop.’ Meaning, small efforts lead all of us towards big work. If positive changes are brought in our habits and thinking, then even a short life seems beautiful and a big change can be brought about. Irish fitness trainer Iain Ward is doing something like this. Iain Ward, who lives in London, is a fitness trainer and was very active about his fitness, but his life suddenly changed when in the year 2019 he came to know that he had terminal brain cancer and he would live only for 1 year.

What Ian Ward did after learning he had cancer

When Ian realized that he had only 365 days left, he thought of helping cancer patients. He started trying to raise the most money for cancer research through marathons. Ian Ward told ‘The Post’, ‘I saw my world being destroyed but I felt that I cannot give up. I can use the remaining days of my life for some good work, I can use them. Then I decided to raise the most money for cancer research and saving the lives of cancer patients through marathons.’

Where did Ian Ward get his motivation from?

Irishman Ian Ward said, ‘I was shaken to the core when I found out about cancer. Then I read how one can make money from marathons. I came to know the story of an athlete who raised 3 million dollars at one time from corporate sponsorship. I thought I can do even better than this and make a world record for donations. That’s why I am engaged in this work.’ Ward is taking it as a mission and has participated in 15 marathons so far.

Famous as ‘King of Chemo’

Whoever hears Ian Ward’s story is coming forward to help him. Ian has become a social media sensation. People are seeing him as a hero. He has 5.5 million followers on TikTok and 6.7 million followers on Instagram. His friends call him the ‘King of Chemo’. Ian will run seven races in 7 days on 7 continents in November 2024. This includes a NYC marathon.

How much money has Ian Ward raised so far

Ward said, ‘When I was undergoing chemotherapy, I was running and cycling to the hospital which was 7 miles away from home. I used to feel very strange there but now when I am doing this work, I am enjoying it. The worst situation in my life came when I was being given radiotherapy. There was a danger of my mental balance deteriorating due to this but I wanted to move on from all this.’ Ian has so far raised about 500,000 dollars from his marathon. He says that he still has a lot of work left.
