2. Mistake in identifying the symptoms of cervical cancer
Facts- According to the doctor, it is very important to recognize the early symptoms of cervical cancer. Its symptoms include vaginal bleeding between periods or after menopause, bleeding after sex, pain during sex and a change in the color or smell of vaginal discharge.
3. If you have taken the cervical cancer vaccine then there is no need for testing.
Facts- Most vaccines are of two types. They provide protection against ‘high risk’ HPV subtypes – 16 and 18, but its other subtypes can also cause cancer, so one should get tested.
4. HPV test positive means cervical cancer has occurred.
Facts- After the HPV test is positive, further tests become necessary so that pre-cancerous lumps can be identified. Therefore, HPV tests should be done every one to two years. In more than 95% of women, the immune system automatically eliminates high-risk HPV infection, but if high-risk lumps persist, the cervix is examined with the help of a colposcopy tool. Facts- If cervical cancer is identified on time, then if it is in the first stage, then more than 95 out of 100 women are completely cured. When it reaches the third stage, 50 out of 100 women are cured, but if the cancer spreads to other organs, then there is little hope of cure.
